Dragons Can Be Beaten

We have a real challenge for you at For Fun this week - a recipe.  We are to use 1 sentiment, 2 different ribbons and 3 buttons or brads.  I had a couple of false starts, mostly because I have a bunch of new sentiments from Paper Makeup and had such a hard time choosing.  I went a little crazy with their going out of rubber sale.  The background paper was from my Costco pack and I just stamped my retired SU French Script background stamp over it.  I thought it gave the impression of large dragon scales.  My two ribbons are the white rolled flowers and the green leaves.  The brads came from my stash.

Looking at the sentiment, I think I'd love to do a pink card with this sentiment.  I think it would be a wonderful encouragement card to someone fighting breast cancer.  What do you think?

I really hope you join us this week!

Other Challenges this Card Meets:
Crafty Catz - Favourite Things (rubber stamps used, die cuts)
Cute Card Thursday - Flower Power
Delightful Sketches - Use your scraps (the two die cuts)
Ge-We Hobby Challenge - Card with Flowers
Sentimental Sundays - Let's get sentimental
Stamping with the Dragon - Year of the Dragon (I know it isn't a dragon image but it is a dragon sentiment.)

Moving Day

This is my last moving card, I promise.  I just liked this one because it seemed more masculine than the others.  Of course I get a good giggle at the TV set in the image.  DS didn't know what it was.  He's never seen one that wasn't flat and mounted on a wall.  I'm soooo old!  I also really liked the glaze of the TV screen and picture frame.  It just adds a nice touch.  The image and sentiment are from Stamping Up's Right at Home set.  I'm kind of debating whether I want to keep this stamp.  It just seems a bit cutsy to me.  What do you think?

Challenges this Card Meets:
Crafty Catz - Favourite Things - Using up scraps and using both rubber stamps and die cuts
Creative Card Crew - Masculine
Creative Inspirations - Brown, Blue and Cream
Delightful Sketches - Use Your Scraps (Brown Base, white and blue)
Do You Stack Up - Layers (Five of Them)

Snowy Valentines

I always associate Valentine's with snow. We are more likely to have snow on Valentine's Day than Christmas. I know Valentine's is over but that is what I was thinking of when I made the card. I'm still playing with my new So Many Scallops set and am having lots of fun! I can't wait until I can scrounge out a scallop punch for the set!

There is still time to play with our Snowflake/Snowman challenge at For Fun.

Snowy Wishes

We are doing snowflake/snowman images at For Fun this week. Yeah! I love snow.  Probably because we usually only get one or two snowfalls a year here.  The whole town just shuts down and all the kids come out.

I was very excited to get the Stamping Up's So Many Scallops set on craigslist.  I don't have the punch so I had to use it just as a circle but I've had lots of fun playing with it.  You may have noticed other cards with them recently.  The snowflake pendant is one die I've had forever but as much as I love it, I've had trouble finding images that fit.

Hope you'll join us!

You're Toadly Awesome

I am so rocking my resolutions for scraps.  Twenty ATC cards made for my mother to give to her class and all of them were made completely out of my smaller scrap bits.  I was actually surprised at how quick they were to do.  The image is from Stamping Up's retired Toy Box set.  That is a great set if you have little kids.  I get so much use out of it.  The hearts were done with my nests.  The pink paper is left over from a cousin's wedding shower invitation scraps.  She's been married 5 years now.  The sentiment is computer generated.  Originally I was dying to buy Papertrey Ink's Tiny Treats Valentine set but once I started looking at what I already had, I realized I could do the same idea with my own images.  I never have trouble coming up with corny plays on words.  I just hope the little kids will get the joke.

Crafty Catz - Valentines
Everybody Art - Love
Fab n Funky - Love is in the Air

I Spy My Valentine

I thought I would share some of the ATC cards that I made for DS.  I made 10 of each design.  He loves purple but doesn't like pink, hence the non-traditional colours.   The scary part is, I made all 100 ATCs out of scraps and I don't think I put a dint in my scrap folder.

The frog image is from SU's A Little Punny (retired) and the magnifying glass and dinosaur are from their Toy Box collection, also retired.  All sentiments are computer generated as is the sentiment on the back.  I tried to add a little something to each card, hence the glitter.  Glitter gives you status at four.  (Some things don't change.)  The magnifying glass has crystal effects to look like glass.

If you know me, you know I love puns.  Kids ATCs are so up my alley!

Valentine for my Teacher

This week at For Fun Challenges, our theme is love.  I just managed to complete 100 ATC cards for my children, my mother's class, my own and a couple of commissions so I'm very much into Valentine's this year.

On to the card.  I don't know what it is, I rarely do paper piecing but every time I go to play with a Meljen's design, I just can't help myself.  The image is one that I've wanted to play with for a while and I am so glad I was inspired by having Meljen's as our sponsor this week.  The card is for a friend's little girl to give to her teacher.  I'm making all her class valentines.  The layout is from Card Positioning Systems.  The ribbon is from a present.

I do hope you'll join us at For Fun!
