Something Wicked This Way Comes

Everyone else is working on Easter and visions of Halloween are floating through my head.  Actually it was the sketch from Bellarific Friday that inspired me so I pulled out the Bellas I have pre-stamped.  This one is one of my favourites, that and Cosmobella.  I'm still working on my stash reduction so all the paper are scraps.  I know the DP is Bo Bunny but it's several years old now.  The sentiment was sticking to my Halloween bag so I don't know where it came from.  The flower was made from one of DH's science fiction books and mentions aliens - Bonus!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Easter is just around the way so I wanted to pull out this adorable stamp before it's too late for another year.  Actually, this image has already been sitting coloured for a year, too pretty to waste.  This card is going to a co-worker.  All the paper, the paper ribbon and the label were a gift.  She'd used some of the supplies for a portfolio page for some graduate work but she's not a crafter and wouldn't use the rest.  I figure I'd give her the card as a thank you for the supplies since I still have quite a bit left.  The card is busier than I usually do but the paper is so pretty that I quite like it.  The label does actually match the pink paper in real life, I'm not quite sure why it looks more red here.  There are stickles on the eggs to give them a bit of pop.

Chevy Thunder

Button, button, who's got the button?  Our challenge this week at For Fun is to use buttons, and definitely more than one on a card.  I really had to go stash hunting for this one.  These yellow ones were the only matching ones I could find so I was then off to find complimentary colour.  With Easter around the corner, purple it is!

Our sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps and I was positively drooling over their classic cars set so I was over the moon to play with this classic Chevy image.  I actually had a friend in high school that had a purple pick-up so that may also have been playing in the back of my mind.

The background was sponged with Distress inks and the edges of the image were also distressed.  The DP came from my Costco pack.  I hope you enjoy this card and our challenge this week.

You Make My Heart Bloom

Just a simple card today.  I was making cards one night with a girlfriend.  It was very interesting to see the difference in styles.  After a couple of hours, she had assembly lined about 30 one-layer cards.  All of them stamped first and then coloured later.  I on the other hand had completed 4 case cards and a more elaborate design team card.  For me that had been a most productive night!  The awesome thing about it was that she pretty much opened every tin of stamps I owned.  I found this beautiful image that I had never inked before.  What was I thinking?!?  The card is stamped on cream rather than white and for that reason it does look so much better in real life, softer than a white card.

I really need to stamp with friends more often, it's so inspiring!

Pretty in Pink

Celebrate!  Today I am celebrating getting all my photos off my camera card.  The card died but I was just barely able to get the photos from yesterday and today off.  DS has just learned to ride a two wheeler and I couldn't bear to loose those images!

What I really enjoy about this card is the fact that it doesn't have to be a birthday card.  The cherry on top of the cupcake makes it so much more versatile.  Summer party maybe; I was even thinking of a cancer surviver's anniversary with the card being in pink.

It's not very evident from the photo but the image panel has been raised on scraps of EZ mount for dimension.  I like the idea of it being popped  and it needed to be done to accommodate the thickness of the pink twill tape but the foam is a bit thicker than I would like.  However, it finished off a sheet of my scraps so I'm one happy camper.

This Cowboy's Hat

It's time for a little two-step down at For Fun Challenges.  We are challenging ya'll to make western themed cards this week.  I didn't have anything that quite fit the bill so I decided to make a cowboy hat instead.   Originally I was thinking of a cactus but I like writing space in my cards and this would fit into a 5X7 envelope.  While, I really like the end result, I think I hit more on Indiana Jones than Tim McGraw.  Maybe a black hat would have been better?  The little dino was so cute though that I couldn't bear changing the theme.

The edges of the hat was distressed in TH Walnut Stain to give it a bit more dimension.  The ribbon are scraps rescued from another project.  The brim was folded up to make a Z- fold for dimension.  The Peredactyl is a discontinued stamp by Dustin Pike with Paper Makeup stamps and was coloured with copies.

I do hope you'll join us!

Additional Challenges this Card Meets:
Incy Wincy - Things with Wings
Mark's Finest Papers - Clean and Simple
Stamping with the Dragon - Things with Wings
Tuesday Throwdown - Spring Cleaning (Ribbon and the foam scraps used as pop-up dots for the dino)

Vintage Canucks

We're going round in circles at For Fun Challenges so I decided to make  circle card.   When looking for paper to match our theme, I found this DP that reminded me a little of hockey pucks so I pulled out my Zac from Paperworks Co.  Well the colours made me think of the vintage Canucks uniform.  My brother is eventually going to get the whole NHL.  I printed the old logo at about 1.5cm in diameter and then cut it out and glued it to the coloured uniform.  The sentiment was found on a page of hockey quotes.  That was fun in and of itself!  Here's a closeup of Zack.  The logo is still hard to see but it's there!

I do hope you'll join us this week.

Other Challenges this card meets:
Cards for Men - Cheeky Chappies
Crafts and Me - Circles
Creative Card Crew - Vintage (Hockey Uniform)
Cupcake Craft - Going Dotty

Wonderland

It's raining Cats and Dogs at For Fun Challenges.  I had so much fun pulling out my Sweet Pea Stamps for this one.  This paper was on my table so when I saw the cats, I was thinking the Cheshire cat in Alice and Wonderland.  I know many people lean towards cards focusing on pets but I don't know anyone with a cat or a dog so I improvised a bit.  This was made doubly fun by the fact DH is not a big fan of my fairy cards as he calls anything with a fantastical bent.  Hope you'll join us this week!

Animal Antics

More Valentine ATC cards...
Another surprise pick by a friend but it turned out well.
I really love the colour combo of this one and the sentiment.  Friendly without the least bit of romantic innuendo.  Perfect for a friend!

I could have also done "Hog Wild for You".  Which sentiment do you prefer?

My Punny Valentine

Still posting some of the Valentine ATC cards I made this year.  I want to make sure I remember them for next year.

This was the one that my youngest DS sent out to all his little friends.  I think this one is my favourite of all the designs I did this year.

The girls really liked this one.  I think it was all the glitter.

I thought this one turned out very cute.  I wasn't sure when it was chosen but was pleasantly surprised with the end result.
I kept the back of the cards very simple because I was sending out so many.   My friends were very grateful for not having to write their child's names over and over.

Leap Year Celebrations

Happy Leap Year!  At for Fun Challenges, we are celebrating those that have birthdays only once every 4 years.  Really we'd love to see any birthday card you make but the design team is having fun celebrating leap years.

I couldn't resist this image by our sponsor KnK Designs.  I love all the bunny images.  I took one of the sentiments that came with the set and printed it on some of my patterned paper.  I had never tried that before but I love how it added interest to a paper that I may not have otherwise chosen.
