Gong Hey Fat Choy
I was really disappointed that I didn't get to make any New Year cards this year. It may be too late for this year but next year is the year of the horse and I will be ready! One of the things that I love about living in Vancouver is that we celebrate everything. My kids celebrate Chinese New Year, and Diwali just the same as we do Easter.
The lantern stamp was a Christmas gift from my mother who wanted to be sure to get me something I didn't have and would be useful. Go Mom! I know it's kind of hard to see all the great detail, The image is from a local company called Old Island Stamps and they do beautiful red rubber. I stamped it in Versamark and then added Heat and Stick Powder before adding Gold Microfine Glitter. I know that it may have been clearer with gold embossing powder but mine is a bit tarnished and I really wanted the lanterns to shine.
The horse image came from a wooden box set of the Chinese Zodiac that I bought years ago when I started teaching that I use for school. I'm sorry, there's no manufacture listed on my box or the stamps. I've lost the insert for it.
The Happy New Year sentiment came from my MFP's Pussywillow set. I've used that sentiment more than I ever expected since I've found I like New Year's cards better than Christmas cards - less stressful to get them out on time!
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that everything on this card has been sitting on my dining room table for a couple of weeks. Today's card was really more of an attempt to clean house. This was way more fun though!
Challenges this Card Meets:
Sketch with a Twist - Sorry I did change the side of the sentiment so that the horse was looking at it. It looked silly the other way around.
