Green Grow the Rushes
Wow, this was a hard card to make. I wanted to try the Joseph's Coat technique because it can look very cool. I've seen it with gorgeous snowflakes. But I admit, I was being too impatient. The first time, I did some beautiful pink and reds and tried to use my Love Potion by Stamping Bella but the image cracked when I was heat setting it. The details were getting lost so I decided to try again with this grass image by Stampin' Up. I managed to crack this one too but managed to save a panel. I was having trouble matching papers since I had used my Distress Inks right to the glossy paper rather than my matchy, matchy SU inks, so I only had some small, very old scraps of green that matched. I really had to fiddle to find a layout that looked pulled together.
The dry embossing is done with a panel that was really intended to be for a top folded card so I cut it to make it go vertical. That meant I neded another piece to hide the fact that the embossing doesn't go all the way to the bottom. Grrr. Thankfully I found this really old Father's Day sentiment to tie it all together. All in all, this was much more challenging than I thought it was going to be.
I don't really love this card but the effect is very interesting.
