Simple Pleasures

One of my favourite holiday past-times is walking in the snow, particularily before Christmas so I can admire the neighbours' lights in peaceful serenity.  So when today's Simple Salutations Challenge was to make a Holiday Card, I decided to try and capture that feeling with this one-layer card.  I started by sponging the ink to create the snowdrifts and the sky.  I used Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, and Tumbled Glass.  The snow was created with the torn paper masking technique.  I then added the tree image, which is from MFP's new release, Chill in the Air.  I used a white gel pen to add my "snowflakes" and drew some lines above the tree to make it look like snow was resting on the branches.  I wasn't being fussy about getting them all since snow sometimes falls off in clumps.  The sentiment is from Christmas Cardinals and I then coloured some rhinestones with my Copics.  The rhinestones were a steal since I had bought some of the Michael's clearance bin rhinestone shapes and then cut them up.  Total cost of the rhinestones was about thirty cents (Canadian - cheaper still for you Americans.)

I love making one-layer cards.  I really should do them more often but I find I'm intimidated by the possibility of spoiling my white cardstock.  How silly is that?
