Congrats to the Teacher

Today's Simple Salutations is to make a Congratulations card.  I have a male student teacher and will need a card for when he completes his long practicum.  It's so traditional, but every teacher gets items with apples.  I liked the bright colours and the contract in this card.  The image is from MFP's "Fall Apples."  The sentiment is from "Above the Rest".  I was surprised, it was my only Congratulations sentiment.

The background was made by layering 1/4 inch green strips onto a piece of scrap card stock at a 45 degree angle.  I used a quilting ruler because I wanted to make sure I did it "right", whatever that means.  I quite liked the result so I've made 3 more panels that I'll use in future projects.   My green scraps wouldn't fit in my accordion filing system and something needed to be done.  Well, something more still needs to be done but it's a start.  I found making the panels very calming.  I may see what it looks like in blue next.
