Moving On Up

Today's challenge on MFP's Simple Salutations was to make a card for someone moving into a new home.  I immediately thought of this chipboard that has been sitting in my stash for the last 8 years. Shhh, don't tell my husband. I never use chipboard because I never feel confident about what to do with it.  Today I simply smashed my Distress Ink right onto the chipboard and then distressed the edges with slightly darker colours to add dimension.  This has probably been the most effective technique I've tried.  Acrylics can look nice but flat and I can't cut out the windows nicely to use DP.

The layout is from this week's Sketch Challenge #495 on Splitcoaststampers.

It's funny, I used to swear that I couldn't do vintage cards.  I'm coming to the conclusion it's all about the DP and accessories chosen and not necessarily a technique or "style" that I struggle to emulate.  I got some new DP from My Mind's Eye and been quite successful with a CAS version of vintage if I do say.
