Decorations of Red...

First, I just have to say - I finally have all the necessary pieces to my Big Shot Pro and got to play this afternoon.  I'm so happy.  It is so easy to use and so smooth that I keep checking to see if it's working.  I almost miss the personality that my old Big Shot had.

Anyways, I saw the challenge on Simple Salutations this week to use glitter and got really excited.  I love playing with glitter.  It makes such a wonderful fun mess.  I swear, when it comes to crafts, I am no better than my students.

This is such a fun technique and was perfect because it needs my die cuts.  I took a sheet of my double sided tape and ran it through my Big Shot Pro.  This card used my large Heirloom Ornament Nestability.  I then adhered one side of the tape directly to the card and without removing the second side of paper from the diecut, I ran my static cling cushion over the entire card.  I then removed the exposed paper from the tape, cut the die cut shape into thirds and carefully returned the middle section of the ornament exactly back onto the card so only the the top and bottom of the tape was exposed.  Next I covered the exposed tape with gold glitter and rubbed it well with my finger to make sure it was well adhered and poured off the excess.  I used a paintbrush to make sure that any spare glitter was not left on the card and cleaned up the gold because I didn't want to contaminate my colours.  I then removed the paper from the middle of the ornament and did the same process with the red glitter.  Since the gold is well burnished into the tape, the red glitter won't stick to it.  If you wish to try this technique, it's important to start with the lightest colours first so that small amounts of contamination of colours are not noticeable.

I'm not totally loving the bow.  It is a bit big for my taste but it was definately needed.  I just didn't have anything thinner that fit the bill.  The bow looks loose but I've hot glue gunned it in place and in the centre so it won't be going anywhere.

The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers newest release, Joyous Season and is stamped in Real Red.

If needed, I would totally mass produce these cards.  Glitter cards can be very quick and look amazing in person.
