I love this card now that it's finished and I had lots of fun with the layout but I must admit, when I saw this week's
Sketch with a Twist layout, with a twist to use die cuts, I fixated on the star. It took me forever to move beyond it. I played with a lot of die cuts before I settled on the holly. Then it all just fell into place. Doesn't the card look like a pretty wrapped packaged? The leaves use one of my favourite techniques - using up leftover paper strips. You will see this technique a lot for the next little while as I whittle down some of my scraps. My bin is runneth over. It's super simple. I put a layer of double sided tape over scrap cardstock and then lay down my strips, without worrying about the colour or the width, as long as the width is less than 1 inch. I then run my die cut over the strips you end up with pretty patterned paper in the desired shape.
The holly leaves were originally pink but I coloured them with nail polish to get the desired colour. It also gives them a shimmer that isn't really visible in this picture. The sentiment is from MFP's Joyous Season and everything, including the base was pulled from the scraps bin.
