Fairy Wishes for a Friend

I've been playing with my Sweet Pea stamps again. Coloured several so I hope to have more cards soon. I should be playing with my new images but I just keep reaching for "Red Hearts." The funny part is, I love to colour her in blues, greens and purples. I haven't coloured her in red yet. Maybe that should be my next attempt. She's coloured with prismas. I love the softer effect of prismas on these cards. I also find the prismas easier to blend for greater depth than Copics but that just may be my bias.

The flowers were made with my Tim Holtz die and the fabric from one of DH's old shirts. He's lost a lot of weight this year and all his beautiful dress shirts don't fit anymore. I couldn't bear to throw them away so while looking the other way, I took my fabric scissors to them. Probably not the safest way to do it, but hey, I love the colours.

Calling Home

I just got my latest order from MFT. Gotta love the Bubble Bin. When I saw this stamp, I knew I had to make my Mother's Day card with it. Our phone calls back and forth are a big joke in the family. The baby can give her the classy card.

I saw the Paper Sundae's challenge this week of 3 patterned paper, 2 cardstock and a flower and thought NO WAY! I don't do DP well, never mind co-coordinating three different ones. I ended up scrounging through my scraps to find DP with small prints to fit my image. Thank goodness for my Grab Bag Swaps! I think I deserve bonus points for this one. I managed to get all the paper requirements in the photo alone! My cardstock is Close to Coca and Certainly Celery.

The floor is a digi I found on Michelle's Just Painting Around Blogspot. It took my quite a while to get everything resized and printed on cardstock but it finally worked.

I chose an easel card after completing the image. It took me so long that I wanted a card that would stay upright and show off my hard work!

Challenges this card meets:
Paper Sundaes - Recipe (3 DPs, 2 colour cardstock, 1 flower)
Charisma Cardz - Girly with Flowers
Daring Cardmakers - Easel Card
Lexi's Creations - Recipe (3 DPs, 2 embellishments, 1 image)
Papertake Weekly - Do Something Different ( 2nd easel card ever made, 2nd paper piecing, 1st MFT image ever used)

Trying Something New

I did it; made my first easel card. It only took me two attempts. Perhaps its making the cards so late that does it to me. This card is for my February Grab Bag Swap. I know I'm late but in my defence, my March cards are done.

Each month the hostess sends six copies of one image, with matching sentiments, DP and embellishments. We are to make four different cards and mail one out to each member of our group. I always seem to struggle to get started and then once I get into it, I'm quite disappointed to run out of supplies and images. It's such a great way for me to get out of my comfort zone. Otherwise I find I end up making the same cards over and over.

This card fits the following challenges:
Lily of the Valley - Easel Card
Crafty Ann - New fold or Technique
Stamp Something - Something Girly. I'm certainly not giving this to DH!
Stampavie - Spring
By the Cute and the Girly - Spring is in the Air
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Flower Power
Craft Challenge - Mothers Day/Flowers
