Old McDonald Has a Farm

Our twist this week on Sketch with a Twist is to use a country theme.  This card was a real challenge for me.  When I looked at the sketch, I wasn't sure how to tie the image on the top to the rest of the card below, especially if I used ribbon.  I played with my new Country Charm set for a bit and then left it for a few days while I went to my brother's wedding; a very long eight hour drive into the interior of rural B.C.  After looking at log fences for cattle for hours, it finally dawned on me what to do.  Unfortunately, I don't have a fence stamp.  I am not an artist.  I don't draw.  I confess, I pulled out my quilting ruler to measure all my posts so they were evenly spaced and my fence was not crooked.  Once I had my grid done, I then free-hand drew the fence over my pencil lines  to get a more organic look.  To be honest, I'm quite proud of my efforts.  Once that was done, I stamped my images and sentiment.  I then masked all 4 stamped items and began sponging my background.  I then added in some grass bits with my Copics.  I don't do scenes very often because I tend to worry about fudging it near the end after putting in a lot of effort but I do always enjoy the effect once I've tried it.  There's something very relaxing about sponging backgrounds...
